1. Protection of Personal Information

Any personal information you give AssetBuddy is processed in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). AssetBuddy is a product of ValueBuddy (Pty) Ltd (registration number 2015/029953/07), part of the BuddyCentral Group.

2. What We Collect

When you sign up and use AssetBuddy, we collect:

• Your name, email address and phone number when you register an account.
• The email addresses of anyone you invite to share an entity (a household or business grouping) with you.
• The asset, warranty, insurance, service and supplier records you choose to enter or upload, including any photos or documents (invoices, policy schedules, service history) you attach to them.

3. How We Use and Share Your Information

We use your information to provide the AssetBuddy service you've signed up for -- storing your records, sending you reminders, and sharing data with other members of an entity you've explicitly invited. We use the following service providers to run AssetBuddy, each of whom processes data on our behalf:

• A cloud database, authentication and file storage provider.
• A transactional email provider, which sends account and reminder emails on our behalf.
• A third-party AI provider -- if you use AssetBuddy's optional AI document-scanning feature, the specific document you submit is sent to that provider's API to extract its details. No other data is sent.
• PayFast -- processes subscription payments. Your card details are handled entirely by PayFast and never reach AssetBuddy's own servers.
• A bot-protection service, which helps us tell humans from bots when you log in or sign up.

Some of these providers may process your information outside South Africa. We do not sell, rent or otherwise provide your personal information to any other third party for their own independent use.

4. Protection of Your Information

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your information from loss, misuse or unauthorised access -- including access controls at the database level, so an entity you belong to can only ever see data explicitly shared with it. Keep your password confidential.

5. Your Rights

You have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, and to request access, correction or deletion of it, subject to any legal obligation we have to retain it. Contact us using the details below.

7. Governing Law

This policy is governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and you consent to the jurisdiction of the South African courts in respect of any dispute arising from it.
